Presentation
The Master’s in HR is a 5-year postgraduate course designed to train future executives, managers and experts in human resources management. managers and experts in human resources management. It offers a training programme aimed at acquiring academic knowledge, professional skills and methodological tools in the field of Human Resources.
The Master’s degree, which has been awarded the “Master RH d’excellence” label by the Référence RH network – www.reference-rh.org – , also stands out for the links it maintains with professional circles, and in particular with theAssociation Nationale des DRH ANDRH Lorraine – www.andrh.fr – , which has been a partner of the Master’s degree since it was founded.
One of the special features of the Master’s programme lies in its assessment methods: focused on the acquisition of fundamental knowledge in the first year, they focus more broadly on the development of skills through individual and group situational tests in the second year.
Objectives
The second year of the Master’s programme is designed as a year of in-depth study of the knowledge and skills needed for HRM careers. It consists of a core curriculum and two options:
A core curriculum devoted to strengthening methodological tools and the strategic, cross-functional role of HR in the organisation.
ERS option: THE HR EXPERT IN SOCIAL RELATIONS. This option takes an in-depth look at social dialogue and collective bargaining, focusing on topical issues such as quality of life at work, well-being and change management.
Option AC: THE HR SKILLS ARCHITECT. This option looks more specifically at the way in which HR builds individual and collective skills in organisations, integrating more closely individual issues (career paths, training, etc.) and the role of local management.
Further study after M2
The three research courses in the Masters degrees in Finance, Marketing and Human Resources Management provide access to doctoral studies in Management Sciences for students wishing to go into academic research.
The aim is to train future teachers, researchers and staff in research skills, with a capacity for reflection based on a mastery of scientific knowledge and methods. The skills developed in the Research pathways can lead students to an academic career in university research, but can also give them access to positions as researchers, experts and high-level executives in business, banking and administration.
The natural progression after one of these three ‘Research’ courses is to prepare a doctoral thesis in Management Sciences within the Doctoral School of Legal, Political, Economic and Management Sciences at the University of Lorraine.
The Master’s in HR is offered on a sandwich course basis in the first and second years. The work-study programme can take the form of an apprenticeship contract, a long-term internship, a professional training contract, or an on-the-job training programme for continuing education students.
Classes take place on Thursdays and Fridays every week from September to June (except during school holidays). Students work in companies and/or host organisations from Monday to Wednesday throughout the academic year (from October to the end of September).
Blocked weeks (between 2 and 5 per year) devoted solely to courses are also planned, according to a timetable fixed in advance and available as soon as the selection procedure is completed.
