Presentation

The Economic and Social Administration – AES degree is based on multi-disciplinary courses which, in the first two years, enable students to acquire a solid grounding in private law, public law, economics, management, sociology and communication.

Cross-disciplinary courses (languages, statistics, IT, etc.) are also taught, as well as specific courses to enhance general knowledge and openness to the contemporary world.
From the first year onwards, the programme offers a gradual orientation , leading in the third year to a range of professional options to prepare for managerial, administrative and tertiary professions in private companies, organisations in the health and social sector and the three civil services (State, Hospital and Territorial):

  • General and Regional Administration (AGT)
  • Health and Social Sector Administration (ASSS)
  • Human Resources (HR)
  • Teaching (ENS)

The AES bachelor’s degree also offers a number of customised pathways from L2: Research (ORION – Dare to Research), Sustainable Development (Agiles), Entrepreneurship, Health, Top-level sportspeople, etc.

Objectives

Over the first two years, the AES degree aims to lay essential foundations for future professionals by offering tools (statistics, languages, IT, accounting) and methodological aids (written and oral expression techniques, legal science methodology, sociology and economics methodology). Through lectures, tutorials and methodological teaching, the course aims to lay the essential foundations for future professionals. Students are also introduced to a range of disciplines: law (private, public, European), economics, sociology, management and political science.

From L2 onwards, the AES bachelor’s degree offers students the opportunity to choose pre-professional courses that foreshadow one of the 6 options available in L3, depending on their plans:

At the end of the second year, students go on to study either a traditional bachelor’s degree or a professional bachelor’s degree, depending on their plans.

  • General and Territorial Administration: preparing students for category A competitive examinations in the various public services. The courses focus on knowledge of administration and the acquisition of a general culture that is essential for success in competitive examinations.
  • Administration of the Health and Social Sector : in addition to the fundamental subjects of management and social economics, for example, the course includes lessons in the history of health, health sociology and medical and hospital law. On completion of the degree, students will be able to take competitive examinations for the hospital civil service, the Ministry of Social Affairs or specialist schools.

  • Economics and Social Sciences: teaching in economics, sociology and social sciences, to enable students to prepare for the teaching profession. It should be noted that students wishing to prepare for the CAPET in economics and management should opt for the management sciences degree.

Pre-professionalization

In 3rd year, a work placement of at least 6 weeks will be compulsory, emphasising the professional aspect of this final year of the degree.

In addition, an “integrating activity”, in the form of a group project, will be offered to students in the 2 semesters of the third year, so as to mobilise all the skills acquired during the course.
