The Economic and Social Administration – AES degree is based on multi-disciplinary courses which, in the first two years, enable students to acquire a solid grounding in private law, public law, economics, management, sociology and communication.
Cross-disciplinary courses (languages, statistics, IT, etc.) are also taught, as well as specific courses to enhance general knowledge and openness to the contemporary world. From the first year onwards, the programme offers a gradual orientation , leading in the third year to a range of professional options to prepare for managerial, administrative and tertiary professions in private companies, organisations in the health and social sector and the three civil services (State, Hospital and Territorial):

The AES bachelor’s degree also offers a number of customised pathways from L2: Research (ORION – Dare to Research), Sustainable Development (Agiles), Entrepreneurship, Health, Top-level sportspeople, etc.
Objectives
Over the first two years, the AES degree aims to lay essential foundations for future professionals by offering tools (statistics, languages, IT, accounting) and methodological aids (written and oral expression techniques, legal science methodology, sociology and economics methodology). Through lectures, tutorials and methodological teaching, the course aims to lay the essential foundations for future professionals. Students are also introduced to a range of disciplines: law (private, public, European), economics, sociology, management and political science.
From L2 onwards, the AES bachelor’s degree offers students the opportunity to choose pre-professional courses that foreshadow one of the 6 options available in L3, depending on their plans:
At the end of the second year, students go on to study either a traditional bachelor’s degree or a professional bachelor’s degree, depending on their plans.

Further study after L2
From L2, the AES bachelor’s degree offers the possibility of choosing pre-professional courses that foreshadow one of the 4 options offered in L3, depending on the student’s plans:
General and Territorial Administration: preparing students for category A competitive examinations in the various public services. The courses focus on knowledge of administration and the acquisition of a general culture that is essential for success in competitive examinations.
Administration of the Health and Social Sector : in addition to the fundamental subjects of management and social economics, for example, the course includes lessons in the history of health, health sociology and medical and hospital law. On completion of the degree, students will be able to take competitive examinations for the hospital civil service, the Ministry of Social Affairs or specialist schools.
Human Resources: aims to understand the world of work and the context in which companies operate. Vocational courses in human resources are also offered: personnel administration, payroll management, recruitment, quality assurance, health and safety at work.
Economics and Social Sciences: teaching in economics, sociology and social sciences, to enable students to prepare for the teaching profession. It should be noted that students wishing to prepare for the CAPET in economics and management should opt for the management sciences degree.
Pre-professionalization
In 3rd year, a work placement of at least 6 weeks will be compulsory, emphasising the professional aspect of this final year of the degree.
In addition, an “integrating activity”, in the form of a group project, will be offered to students in the 2 semesters of the third year, so as to mobilise all the skills acquired during the course.
Work placements are optional in L1 and L2 and can take place from April or May depending on the year of study. year.
A minimum 6-week work placement in L3 is compulsory after the spring holidays.

The AES degree is first and foremost a stepping stone to successful further study: Master’s degree, professional degree, preparation for competitive examinations, etc. – there are many possibilities.
From the 2nd year of the bachelor’s degree, students can also opt for one of the four professional bachelor’s degrees offered at IAE NANCY.
Students with a Bachelor’s degree can opt for one of the IAE NANCY’s Master’s programmes.
Depending on their career path, AES students can enter the public or private sector: the three civil services (State, regional and hospital), private enterprise, the health and social sector, teaching.

Conditions of admission
Students who have completed both semesters of L1 are eligible to enrol in L2.
Admission is by application only for holders of a Bac+2 (120 ECTS), preferably in the field of Law, Economics and Management.

The Bachelor’s degree in Economic and Social Administration is available as part of a programme of continuing education or as part of a programme of validation of acquired experience (VAE).
For European students undergoing initial training, registration fees for national diplomas are set annually by ministerial decree. In 2026, they will amount to :
