PACE OF TRAINING

The Master’s in Finance and Control is taught over two years, the first year being entirely common to the two specialised pathways (CFE and AFGA) offered in the second year. The aim of the M1 courses is to provide all students in the Master 1 Finance and Control programme with a solid, in-depth core of fundamental skills in finance, accounting and control. This will enable them to move on to all finance and accounting functions in companies, financial institutions and audit or consultancy firms. Although the M1 Finance Control gives students privileged access to the M2 CFE and AFGA programmes, it also enables them to apply for other standard M2 courses offered by the Université de Lorraine’s Finance department.

Teaching is organised over two semesters in the form of lectures, tutorials, case studies, etc., supplemented by an internship and/or an applied finance dissertation at the end of the year. Each semester is assessed by continuous assessment and/or final examination. During the year, students prepare for and pass two professional certifications: one from the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) and the other validating a level of proficiency in Excel (TOSA). The M1 year also provides an introduction to research. Students also take part in a range of conferences, events and workshops to enhance their knowledge, skills and expertise.

In M1, students must write a dissertation (based either on an internship or on a professional or research project), and in M2 they must complete an internship or work-study programme leading to a dissertation.
